Dr. Brent Jackson

Veterinarian

After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1984, Brent spent a year working at a mixed animal clinic in Vermillion with both big and small animals. Although he grew up in a rural farming community in Alberta, Brent soon realized working with companion animals (a.k.a. pets) was his passion. He began working at a general animal hospital in Edmonton, where he thrived on problem-solving, diagnostic workups, surgery and medicine.

That was 30 years ago, and today as a general practitioner Brent still loves his job more than ever. He is most passionate about his exceptional patients.

“We veterinarians have tremendous patients. They don’t complain, and they’re so grateful for the help they receive.”

At Currents, Brent is excited to be back working in general practice after being in emergency medicine for the past 10 years. His favourite part of the job is seeing pets grow up within a family, seeing the enjoyment that families get from their companions, and watching pets grow to their full age.

Brent is very involved in the Edmonton community. He is a past board member of the Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarians, and past president of the ABVMA. He is a past advisory committee member of both NAIT and Lakeland College's Animal Health Technology programs. He's a past board member of the Alberta SPCA and past president of Guardian Veterinary Centre and the Edmonton Veterinary Emergency Clinic. He currently sits on the Hearings Tribunal of the ABVMA.
